Golf Rules & Scorecards

Suggested Rules

  • Play one-on-one or as teams.
  • Use the Sporthole scorecard or play to an agreed upon point total.
  • Each player or team can either throw all bags at once, or alternate tosses with the opponent.
  • If Player/Team A starts the game, Player/Team B ends the game.
  • Make sure to agree upon the throwing distance before starting.

Just like other Sporthole Games, Golf is true to its game too... The lowest score wins!

  • The scorecard shows par for each of the front nine and back nine holes.
  • On a par 4 you throw from the normal distance of 15 feet. For a par 3, you take one step toward the board; for a par 5 you take one step away from the board.
  • The hole with the lowest score you throw a bag into determines how many points you either add to or subtract from par.
  • If you’re on a par 4 and your best throw is a bag into the -1 hole, you would then subtract 1 point for that par 4, making your score a 3 (birdie) for that hole.
  • If you’re on a par 5 and your best throw is a bag into the +1 hole, you would then add 1 point for that par 5, making your score a 6 (bogie) for that hole.
  • If you don't make a single bag into a hole, you will add 2 points to your total for that hole. For a par 3, your score would be a 5. For a par 4, your score would be a 6. For a par 5, your score would be a 7.
  • If you make a bag into the water, you will add 1 point to your total for that hole, for every time you throw a bag into the water hazard.
  • If you throw a bag off the board, it counts as a penalty stroke, for out of bounds. You would then add 1 point to your total for that hole, for every time you throw a bag off the board.

Example Strokes - Par 4 Hole

  • First shot you make into the +1 hole.
  • Second shot you make into the E hole.
  • Third shot you throw your bag off the board.
  • Fourth shot you land on the board, but not in a hole.

Final score for this hole is a 5. The best hole you threw a bag into was the Even hole. So you would have ended the hole with a 4 (since its a par 4). But, since you threw your bag off the board, it counted as a penalty stroke for out of bounds, adding 1 point to your total.
